Rachel Lee – biography
“I worked as a chef and cookbook author for ten years in Italy before returning to the central coast of California, the place of my birth, to begin life again as a painter. In Italy I was surrounded and saturated with beauty. The landscape, art, food, architecture, people, and culture was nourishing to my soul.
In America we sometimes have to search for the beautiful amidst ugliness, but I have never failed to be awed by nature. That is one reason I am drawn to painting botanicals. They bring me a sense of calm and wonder. I am also inspired by people of substance and character who fight for the greater good.
